New Delhi: The duo of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi is displaying explosive batting form in IPL 2026. It is proving difficult for any bowler to contain them. Even Jasprit Bumrah has faced their onslaught. The pair of Vaibhav and Yashasvi has now completed a 500-run partnership in the IPL. In doing so, the duo broke a long-standing record held by Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi have become the fastest Indian opening pair to score 500 runs in the IPL. These two left-handed batsmen reached the 500-run milestone in their partnership in just 248 balls. Previously, this record among Indian pairs was held by Sehwag and Gambhir, who had completed 500 partnership runs in 309 balls while playing for the Delhi franchise during the early seasons of the tournament. Overall, the record for the fastest 500-run partnership in the IPL (in terms of fewest balls faced) belongs to Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi made his IPL debut for Rajasthan against the Lucknow Super Giants on April 19, 2025. In that match, he opened the innings and added 85 runs in 8.4 overs alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal. Since then, the duo has combined to post opening partnerships of 52, 166, 1, 5, 76, 37, 75, 70, and 80 runs.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has played 10 matches in his IPL career so far. In these matches, he has scored 374 runs at an average of 37.4 and a strike rate of 218.72. During this period, his bat has yielded 1 century and 2 half-centuries. As for Yashasvi Jaiswal, he has 2,336 runs to his name across an IPL career spanning 69 matches. He has scored these runs at an average of 36.5 and a strike rate of 153.59. He has scored two centuries in the IPL, along with 17 half-centuries.
